SECTORS OF ACTIVITY
1. Development of collaborative and networking mechanisms among local groups.

OBJECTIVE
To bring together local independent human rights and development organisation in the pursuit of human rights issues in Sierra Leone with the view of promoting and fostering unity diligence and understanding among member organizations and the entire human rights community.

STRATEGIES
· Retreats, conferences and meetings for members and non-members
· Collaborative research work on human rights for advocacy purposes
· Information sharing meetings and seminar

2. Human Rights Research Work

OBJECTIVE
To investigate, document and report on human rights violations, abuses and neglect, policy issues etc.

STRATEGIES
· Periodic and annual reports on human rights situation and incidents
· Policy research and reporting.
· Publication of such reports

3. Advocacy

OBJECTIVES
To review national governance and human rights policies, in order to advocate for their conformity with international standards that can serve the best interest of the people.

STRATEGIES
· Assessment of national policies
· Lobbying of relevant institutions
· Press Releases and campaigns
· Seminars/workshops/conferences

4. Awareness Raising and Education

OBJECTIVE
To create awareness and educate the public on human right issues and programs.

STRATEGIES
· Public and community outreach
· Training seminar/workshop with specialized government institutions (Police, Military, Prison Warden, Teachers etc.)
· Human rights education in schools
· Development and publication of information Education and communication (IEC) materials.

5. Capacity Building of Human Rights Defenders / Activists

OBJECTIVE
To facilitate and organize training for human rights defenders/activists for the positive enhancement of human rights. The National Forum shall also seek the protection of human rights defenders at all times.

STRATEGIES
· Training workshops/seminars for human rights defenders/activists
· Accessing international human rights training seminar/workshop/conference for defenders/activists.
· Accessing donor support for human rights groups.
· Networking with both national and international colleagues to safeguard the protection of defenders/activists in crisis.
· Accessing information resources center for human rights defenders/activist and scholars.

6. Affiliation with other Human Rights Communities

OBJECTIVE
To affiliate with other national and international human rights associations and organisations bearing similar aims and objectives.

STRATEGIES
· Joint project development and implementation
· Hosting and facilitating the work of visiting personnel of human rights organisations.
· Information sharing
· Joint research work
· Linking other groups and international human rights organisations with appropriate/specialize human rights bodies in Sierra Leone.
· Internship programs

7. Strengthening Accountability and Justice Mechanisms

OBJECTIVE
To initiate and enhance work around accountability and justice mechanisms.

STRATEGIES
· Canpaigning for the review of necessary structures and instruments that are not in conformity with international standards so as to enhance an effective and independent judiciary system in Sierra Leone.
· Working on and closely with the transitional accounting and justice mechanisms (Truth and Reconciliation Commission and the Special Court in Sierra Leone).
· Paralegals Education and assistance.
